Great Value Strawberry Pastries vs. Kellogg's Pop Tarts.
Today we're going to compare Great Value strawberry pastries and Kellogg's Pop Tarts. They are very similar products, but there are a few noticeable differences...
Nutrition-
Both brands contain 200 calories per serving (one pastry). In fact, they are almost identical as far as nutrition with two exceptions. The Great Value brand has 2 grams of vs. 1.5 grams of saturated fat in the Kellogg Pop Tarts. In contrast the Kellogg brand has 170 mg of sodium vs 140 mg in the Great Value brand. All things considered, the tiny differences aren't deal breakers.
Aesthetics-
Again, very similar. The above picture shows that the Great value is a bit thicker, but the Pop Tart is a little wider/taller.
Taste-
This is the most important category and neither disappoint. The Great Value brand is a little floury, and the strawberry filling is more sweet than tart. The Pop Tarts are well, more tart. Also, they have a more substantial taste. Considering that, they would probably be the preferred pastry to put into the toaster.
Price-
Pop-tarts - $2.12 (6 pack, no tax)
Great Value - $1.32 (6 pack, no tax)
The price difference is really what separates the two. Eighty cents may not seem like a lot, but as we all know, it adds up.
Conclusion-
These virtually identical pastries are both satisfying anytime treats. However, considering the price point of both brands the Great Value is the winner here.
